Red Headed Woodpecker

Just outside my dining room window. He has become quite the neighborhood bully. He scares off all the other birds who attempt to come to the feeders so everyone has to wait for him to leave the area.

What a fun angle for a Woodpecker photo. Usually we are viewing their back as they are on a tree. We’ve had similar experiences with them at our feeders. Wait it out and they will move on. We also had a pair bring 2 fledglings to the feeders for a period of a few weeks.

Awesome! These are so elusive in Chicago. They don’t come in the backyards and there are only a few places I know to find them and they stay high up in the trees.
