White Pelicans On Mobile Bay

A photographer friend and I were out searching for white pelicans yesterday morning. It was cold but still as we drove along the causeway heading toward Mobile. Not far out of Spanish Fort I spotted what looked like hundreds of them in one of the multitude of back bays. It took a few minutes to get to a spot where we could turn around but we got back before they flew off. It was wondrous to see them flying off in formations that looked like black and white ribbons! I would have given a lot to have more time and my tripod but we were happy to see what we did and get some photos. Maybe there will be a next time…
