A Dainty Dash of Purple

A Dainty Dash of Purple

It’s really a shame that such a lovely wildflower has such an unattractive name. It is a Spiderwort and the scientific name is Tradescantia. This particular species is Tradescantia Virginiana or Virginia Spiderwort. The colors can range from blue to purple and even occasionally white.

  1. The common name isn’t pretty but the flowers sure is!
